Not a drop out

An article on April 18 about Westfield High School in Chantilly, Va., from which the killer in the Virginia Tech massacre and two of his victims graduated, referred incorrectly to the academic background of Steve Webb, who visited friends at the high school a day after the killings. He transferred to an alternative educational program in the district; he did not drop out of school. Link

So, yeah, kind of a fan

'Bard Times: On Shakespeare' (Review, last week) said: 'Freud, Walt Whitman, Dickens and Mark Twain all said they did not believe in Shakespeare.' This is not true of Dickens who said Shakespeare was 'the great master who knew everything'. He also helped purchase and preserve the bard's birthplace in Stratford-upon-Avon. Link

Ali G, not G

Because of an editing error, the Generations column last Sunday omitted a word from the title of a television show. It is “Da Ali G Show,” not “Da G Show.” Link

Apology

AN article entitled ''Cost-cutting puts lives in danger'' published in The Sunday Telegraph on April 15 reported the practice of sending medical records overseas for transcription.
Some readers may have inferred from the report that the services offered by Ms Raji Swaminathan and her business, Professional Transcription Solutions (PTS), were inaccurate. The Sunday Telegraph apologises to Ms Swaminathan for any distress caused by readers drawing this inference.
The Sunday Telegraph accepts that Ms Swaminathan and her business, Professional Transcription Solutions, are entirely reputable and the medical mix-ups alluded to in the article of April 15, 2007 are not a reflection of the quality of the services provided by PTS.

Way more professional

Palm Desert mansion: An article in the A Section on April 20 about a $30-million-plus mansion built in Palm Desert identified a Montana newspaper owned by the homeowner, Duane Hagadone, as the Hungry Horse. The newspaper is the Hungry Horse News. Link

Apology

ON March 9 we published an article entitled "Sheva" "Yes, its true, I've complained about Chelsea manager" "Jose never spoke to me and played me out of position" "No secret Roman wanted me more than Mourinho".
We claimed that Andriy Shevchenko had "lifted the lid on his stormy career at Chelsea" and that he had given an interview to a German TV website www.sport.ard.de in which he had complained about his manager Jose Mourinho and revealed that he had had played for better coaches and would have been happy to have left Chelsea on loan last January.
Having investigated the matter further we accept that these allegations are untrue and that Andriy Shevchenko did not give this interview to the German website or make any of the statements falsely attributed to him. We apologise to Andriy for any distress and embarrassment this article has caused him. Link

"Correction"

A Peter Gelzinis column in yesterday's Herald erroneously stated that Kevin Weeks "dug (the) unmarked grave'' of Debra Davis, who was murdered in 1981 by James "Whitey'' Bulger with the help of Stephen "The Rifleman'' Flemmi. The Herald regrets the error.

Fun with photos

Not all the people shown in the pictures on the opening spread of the article "They made me do it" (14 April, p 42) were suicide bombers. Among those who are not is the hooded man who was maltreated by soldiers at Abu Ghraib prison, Iraq. Link

A multimedia correction

In an April 23 "TV Club," Timothy Noah misquoted a piece of dialogue from The Godfather: Part II. Noah's quotation inadvertently omitted the words "come and" from "Where my wife sleeps. Where my children come and play with their toys." To hear Al Pacino recite this line, click here. Link
