THE FIRST BMW 3-series sports sedan was model year 1977. A caption with BMW photos that accompanied a March 10 Weekend Journal article on why car "faces" have become angrier incorrectly implied that the first 3-series appeared in 1968. In addition, the first car on the left in the photo illustration was of a BMW model 2002 from 1972. The second and third 3-series BMWs in the illustration were model years 1987 and 1997. The caption incorrectly said that the first car was part of the 3-series and that the second and third cars were from 1984 and 1992. Link
