In our article Fight to the Finish (Sport, Feb 5) we said, incorrectly, that Martin Doolan had been quietly paid off as the Irish Greyhound Board's Commercial Manager. In fact, Mr Doolan was the Business Development Manager, a separate and distinct position. Further, he did not seek nor did he receive any payoff from the Irish Greyhound Board when, having decided that the time had come to pursue a change of career, he resigned voluntarily from his position in February 2005. We are happy to set the record straight and apologise to Mr Doolan for the embarrassment caused.
