In a Feb. 25 story about a former prison officer accused of having sex with convicted killer Cory Ogden, The Associated Press erroneously named Ogden for other crimes.
Leighton Bates, not Ogden, escaped from the Oregon State Correctional Institution in 2001, and kidnapped and raped a Salem woman before he was recaptured, according to Department of Corrections spokeswoman Perrin Damon.
The former officer, Rebecca McLauchlin, is accused of having sex with Ogden, who is serving a minimum 25-year sentence for the 1996 robbery and slaying of a restaurant cook in Portland.
