So much time without a correction, and now this. It's shameful to be back in Crunkville, but the record must be corrected and we're just the peeps to do it. Big thanks to Steve and Rachel for recognizing our incompetence.
The Crunks:
- Our June 24 post, "Three strikes," initially carried the headline, "Three stikes." As Steve pointed out, "...the OED has an entry for "stike" but declares it's actually a misprint for the word "sike", which is an old word for a sigh. So I doubt that's what you meant..." It was not what we meant and it has therefore been corrected. We regret the error.
- Our September 7 article, "Regret The Interview: A conversation with Seth Mnookin," used the word "principles" instead of "principals" in this sentence: "The reason it was so preventable was because it was a situation in which I should have checked with the principals." As Rachel noted in this post on FishBowlNY: "...in a piece specifically about spell-checking and accuracy we'd have thunk it would have behooved RTE to turn its eagle eye on itself when transcribing all the Mnookspeak so as not to publish this clunker..." We agree. It has been corrected. We regret the error.
