Tough times for the Montreal Gazette. First, a marquee columnist and editorial writer admits to plagiarism. Then it identifies a lawyer -- and not his client -- as someone charged with impaired driving. This ran under the Gazette's usual "For the Record" correction heading yesterday, along with a photo of the lawyer:
A headline yesterday over a story about police protocol in administering breathalyzer tests said incorrectly that Eric Sutton has been charged with impaired driving. In fact, as the story explained, Sutton is the lawyer acting for Mark Hughes, the person facing the impaired driving charges. The Gazette apologizes to Sutton for the error.
