History lesson for the LA Times

An article about constitutions in Sunday's Los Angeles Times Magazine cited the following passage and attributed it to the Bill of Rights: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed. . . ." That's from the Declaration of Independence.
